About this role

We are working with our client to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to lead and take full ownership of the finance function across a multi entity group. This is a broad, hands on role that goes beyond traditional management accounts, encompassing responsibility for reporting, cashflow, payroll, VAT, and oversight of a small finance team. The successful candidate will work closely with Directors and senior leadership team, operating with a high degree of autonomy and bringing strong commercial awareness to support business decision making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts across multiple entities
  • Complete full balance sheet reconciliations
  • Deliver P&L variance analysis (vs budget & prior period)
  • Support group consolidation and annual budgeting/reforecasting
  • Review CVRs and project margin analysis
  • Manage and update 13-week rolling cashflow forecast, monitor cash position and highlight risks.
  • Oversee monthly payroll across entities, ensure HMRC compliance (PAYE, NIC, pensions, RTI)
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensure correct VAT treatment (including CIS where relevant).
  • Support year-end and liaise with external accountants
  • Manage CIS returns and subcontractor verification
  • Lead and supervise a small team of finance administrators
  • Review purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank processes
  • Maintain and improve finance procedures and controls
  • Act as key finance contact for internal stakeholders

What we are looking for:

  • Experience producing management accounts in a multi-entity/group environment, with strong payroll, HMRC compliance, VAT, and cashflow forecasting expertise
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience using cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage)
  • Confident working with senior stakeholders, highly organised, and able to manage competing priorities
  • Experience within construction, property, or a related sector, with CIS knowledge
  • Professionally qualified (CIMA, ACCA, AAT) or qualified by experience, with prior team management or supervisory experience
